The kits contains a selection of Big Wool yarn in 2 coordinating colours, yarn needles and a choice of straight or circular needles. Circular knitting needles can be used to knit everything that straight needles can and more, including things knit in the round. We highly recommend giving them a go and our staff uses them almost exclusively.
The kit also includes the beautiful Learn to Knit:The Basics by Rowan, along with the basic instructions on how to knit, this book also includes information on other topics such as blocking, shaping, understanding patterns and finishing. The book also contains 12 patterns perfect for beginners. Most of these patterns use 1 to 3 balls so the yarn included will be enough to do up to 4 projects. All projects in the book are knit flat or have a flat option so if you would prefer to use straight needles you won't miss out on any.
Not all patterns use 10mm knitting needles but a good selection do which is why it is the size we have chosen to include in the kit. If you would like to knit all of the patterns in the book you will need to purchase additionally sizes 8mm, 9mm, 12mm, and 20mm needles.
With your first 4 balls of yarn you will be able to knit 3 or 4 projects depending on which you choose. To knit every project in the book you would need extra balls of Big Wool. The largest project in the book takes 7 balls in a single colour but many others take only a couple balls of each colour.
